From 153 Google Play reviews, I identified key issues in software and hardware integration and user experience during the old-to-new app migration.

Additionally, to better understand Renogy users, I took a detective approach by diving into their community to identify key users who were influential in leading discussions.

My approach to redesigning Renogy’s onboarding balances business goals and user needs by featuring loyal users' reward-driven lifestyle posts, enhancing brand visuals with a modern design touch.

To enhance the accessibility of their login screens, I applied their branding colors to the UI and simplified the design to increase coding efficiency—a key concern raised by their engineering team.

To bridge the knowledge gap between the old and new UI, we believe adding tooltips is a lightweight solution that engineers can implement within the existing onboarding update timeframe.

Due to limited time and user recruiting authorization, we could only test our prototype with four Renogy users. However, all four provided positive feedback on the redesigned process, user interface, and aesthetics based on our revised user guide.

Takeaways
While leading this project, I identified the limitation of conducting one-time usability testing with Renogy users. Recognizing the need for deeper insights, I proposed diplomatically requesting user data from Google and Renogy. We also shared findings from Google reviews and Renogy's community to uncover key issues, shaping a targeted design proposal. This experience taught me that offering trade-offs is crucial in managing delicate client and business relationships.
